HIKING BACKPACKS
Buy 20 Litre Backpack Online
A 20L hiking backpack is super versatile - not too small and not too large. It can be great for school or work, or a 1/2 day hike, with a good size internal compartment and a few small pockets for your essentials.
When looking for a new hiking backpack, the first thing to take into account is how long you're going to be away for. A few hours? A day? A weekend? This will determine how much gear you need to pack.
The second thing you need to factor in is the time of year and what the weather is like. Research the local climate and check the weather forecast before you travel so you know whether you're likely to need sunscreen or your waterproof gear, and therefore, the size of backpack you need.
All our backpacks are tested in use by target users under the same conditions as they would experience in real-life use. Our Field Test Missions team the product manager up with people who are unaffiliated with Quechua, to test, improve and validate our products.
How is bag volume measured ?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standard method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in litres.
How to adjust your backpack?
Step 1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, hip belt, load adjuster straps).
Step 2 - Put the backpack on.
Step 3 - For rucksacks with a capacity of 50 L or more, place the hip belt correctly (it should sit over the pelvis) and tighten it. For smaller rucksacks, the belt should be placed around the waist.
Step 4 -Tighten the shoulder straps.
Step 5 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.
How to pack your backpack?
Put your bedding at the bottom. Place heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep a waterproof jacket and/or fleece close to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. If carrying a hydration pack (water bladder), this should be placed in its special pocket along the back.
